Improving Inclusive Education!!

Learning Kat is passionate about improving Inclusive Education.  There is so much potential for ALL learners in South Africa, and a variety of ways that these learners can be empowered.   Some are simple things that parents, teachers and businesses can do now, others require major changes in policy.

On this page I will be outlining my vision and showcasing any positive steps Imake.

The Vision

This is the basic skeleton of my dream.....  There are many other aspects that need to be looked at and I welcome constructive participation from all fronts.

But this is where I am starting from.....

PIPPA HUDSON : LeadSA - Make a Difference Diary

Pippa spoke to Kathryn Kenyon, a regular CapeTalk listener, about a difference she is making.

Kathryn has a vision of all children who need assistive therapies having access to that treatment, regardless of their financial status. And she is doing her best to make it happen, starting here in the Western Cape.

Inclusive Education in South Africa is in dire need of change.  I am hoping to help bring about this change.  But I CANNOT do so alone.  For this reason I have set up a forum where ideas can be discussed and suitable parties brought together to bring about the changes nedded.

I am setting up a database where therapists willing to donate time, either probono or at a discounted rate can be put in touch with agencies or families who need access to therapies, but where therapy is financially out of reach.

Therapists would be asked to commit to aprox 2 hours per month probono or up to six hours a month at a reduced rate.

Therapists would be able to allocate this time at their discretion, and use of "quiet" times in the working day would be great, as this would cause the least impact on the Therapist's business.

Should you be interested in joining, or know anyone who might be, please let me know.

Similalrly, if you are an agency working with children in need or are a family in need of this type of assistance, please contact me for further discussion.

Therapy Network

Connecting schools:

I am now in consultation with the department for Education regarding setting up a network of schools that offer Inclusive Education -- be it as mainstream or Special Needs schools.

As things develop, I will post updates.

Connecting with amazing people

I have connected with the most amazing man with a vision of linking ALL inclusive resourcs across the country.  Now to get it off the ground....

Connecting with other agencies

Let us set up a discussion about how we can all work together to help our children.

I have made contact with some interested agencies in the corporate and social responsibility sectors.

If other agencies are interested in sharing ideas and assisting children, please contact me.
